- Effective from May 05, 2014, Royal Laurel/Premium Laurel/Business Class passenger is allowed to carry two-pieces of hand-carry baggage and each piece cannot exceed 7 kg (15 lb). Elite/Economy Class passenger is permitted to carry one-piece weighing 7 kg (15lb) carry-on baggage.
- The dimension of each hand-carry baggage may not be larger than 23x36x56cm /9x14x22 in or total of 115 cm/45 in (personal item is not applied to this regulation).
- For your convenience, a measurement Test Unit is available at either the check-in counter or boarding lounge to help you to determine whether your baggage meets these requirements.
- If the hand-carry baggage is overweight or oversize, it will be checked and carried in the cargo hold or refused carriage.
Please note that:
- Hand-carry baggage must fit under a passenger seat when stow, in order to prevent it from sliding sideward into the aisle.
- Hand-carry baggage does not obstruct passenger movement to, from, or across the aisle.
- Hand-carry baggage stowed in overhead bins fits securely, and flight attendants can close the bins without using force.
- There is little or no chance for hand-carry baggage and other articles to fall out of overhead bins when the bins doors are opened.
- Do not keep the hand-carry baggage on your lap.
- Whenever the weight and/or size of the hand-carry baggage do not meet the standard, you may be required to pay additional charges to be transported as checked baggage.
- Aircraft’s closet is not suitable to stow passenger’s baggage.
- At some airports, carry-on baggage size may be more limited due to aircraft’s stowage capacity (especially MD90 and A321) even though your carry-on size comply with the limited size according to picture above. If the baggage cannot fit into the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you, The baggage will be stored as checked baggage and placed in the cargo compartment. We very appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Carry-on items
In addition to the hand-carry baggage, every passenger may carry, without additional charge (subject to local country specific restrictions, if any), the following free carry-on items(of reasonable size) or an item of similar size:
- a laptop computer* or
- a purse or
- a small backpack or
- a briefcase or
- a camera case
*A laptop in thin satchel-style laptop bag is considered to be a personal item. A laptop in a larger laptop bag will be counted as part of a guest’s carry-on allowance.
The following items are not counted toward your one bag and one personal item limit:
- Reasonable quantity of outer garment (coat, hat, scarf, etc.), rain gear (umbrella, raincoat), reading material, food, drink, camera or small binoculars and other personal belongings
- A limited amount of duty-free merchandise
Above items should be safely stowed in the closed overhead bin or under the seat. If you put your free carry-on item in the seat pocket, it should be within the vertical line from the seat back and under no circumstances can it protrude into the aisle. Passengers are permitted to place small bags on their shoulders or waists after fastening seat belts.
Please note that you are not permitted to attach any unapproved device to any part of your seat or any other part of the aircraft such as knee defenders and seat belt extensions.
To properly secure your cabin baggage, the following regulations are applied:
- Must have strong packing (e.g. suitcase) or be packed into a secure and strong box (better with handle(s)) if CBBG is non-square shape such as Buddhist Statue.
- Must not exceed 70 kg/154 lb per seat and the dimension (after proper packing) has to complied with all requirements. Please click The cabin baggage acceptable dimensions.
- Must be reserved 48 hours ahead of departure by EVA Air Reservation and applicable charges paid (CBBG online booking is not available).
- Must be assigned an extra seat in the first row behind the partition or last row in front of partition by EVA Air Reservation.
- Must be secured in a seat adjacent or nearby to the passenger and comply with all safety regulations.
- Must not change seats for both passenger and baggage during the flight.
- Must not obscure any customer’s view of “seatbelt,” “no smoking” or “exit” sign.
- Must not contain dangerous goods or other prohibited items.
- Must not endanger the aircraft, persons or property onboard the aircraft.
- Must identify yourself at the boarding gate 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time for CBBG handling procedure.
Cabin baggage is the item(s) that you carry with you into the aircraft cabin and are kept under your custody during flight. EVA Air assists in securing the item but is not liable for any damage or loss of this cabin baggage unless such damage or loss is caused by EVA Air’s negligence. If CBBG has no proper packing, not in accordance with related regulation, or passengers disagreeing with the handling of baggage, the baggage will not be accepted as CBBG for safety reason. EVA Air is entitled to accept as checked baggage or refuse such items onboard.Due to security operation at U.S. region airports, we recommend you arrive at check-in counter 2 hours before departure in advance.
Itinerary including flights operated by EVA Air or the Most Significant Carrier (MSC) determined by EVA Air only and the information applies to itineraries that are shown on the same ticket. For journeys involving separate tickets, the free baggage allowance reflected on each ticket shall apply.

- As a general rule the above free baggage allowances apply when EVA Air operates the longest or most significant stretch throughout the journey in geographically. Moreover, the free baggage allowance may change if you interrupt your trip or if you’re holding separate tickets for one journey. Please refer to your electronic ticket which shows your checked baggage allowance and carrier’s allowances and charges may apply.
- For infants not entitled to a seat, fully collapsible stroller/pushchair or infant carrying basket or car seat can be checked as baggage or be accepted as carry-on in the passenger cabin subject to the availability of space.

Sporting equipment
- Angling/Fishing Equipment
- Included in free allowance

- Regardless of the actual dimensions may be considered as a piece of baggage at 158 cm/62 in.
- Including one fishing tackle box, one landing net, one pair of fishing boots (all properly encased), one reel, 2 rods
- Archery Equipment
- Included in free allowance
- Pre-advise EVA Air at the time of booking.
- One item of archery equipment per customer as checked baggage
- All items must be properly encased in a suitable container.
- Including one bow case containing bows, one quiver with arrows, maintenance kit of sufficient strength to protect items from accidental damage.
- Bicycle
- Included in free allowance
- Pre-advise EVA Air at the time of booking.
- Regardless of the actual dimensions may be considered as a piece of baggage at 158 cm/62 in.
- For non-motorized touring and racing single-seat bicycle with flat tires and proper package to reduce the risk of damage. Bicycle should be transported in a sealed box.
- Rotate handle to 90 degrees and tighten, remove or turn the pedals inside.
- Bowling Equipment
- Included in free allowance
- Regardless of the actual dimensions may be considered as a piece of baggage at 158 cm/62 in.
- Including one bowling ball, one bowling bag and one pair of bowling shoes.
- Cano
- Included in free allowance
- Pre-advise EVA Air the weight and dimension of baggage in order to check if cargo compartment space is available at the time of booking.
- Shall be collected excess baggage charge by the length of each bag if it’s oversize under piece concept.
- Golf
- Included in free allowance
- Regardless of the actual dimensions may be considered as a piece of baggage at 158 cm/62 in.
- Including one set of golf clubs and one pair of golf shoes
- All items must be properly encased in a suitable container. The golf bag must be covered or enclosed in a heavy, rigid carrying case.
- Hang-gliding Equipment
- Pre-advise EVA Air at the time of booking.
- Including the glider itself, one harness and one helmet
- Pack up in to a glider bag or other suitable bag.
- Shall be collected excess baggage charge by the length of each bag if it’s oversize under piece concept.
- Hockey/Lacrosse Equipment
- Included in free allowance
- Regardless of the actual dimensions may be considered as a piece of baggage at 158 cm/62 in.
- Hockey (e.g. field hockey/ice hockey) , ringette, lacrosse and football equipment: one helmet, a puck/ring/football/stick, a set of pads, and a pair of cleats, shoes or skates are included as part of one accepted set, per guest.
- Up to two hockey or lacrosse sticks taped together will count as one checked item. Hockey sticks must be packed separately from hockey equipment in a hard-sided container or sporting bag.
- Paragliding Equipment
- Included in free allowance
- Pre-advise EVA Air at the time of booking.
- Including one wing, one harness , one safety helmet and emergency reserve system (parachute)
- Pack up in to a concertina bag or other suitable bag.
- Scuba Diving Equipment
- Included in free allowance
- Pre-advise EVA Air at the time of booking.
- Regardless of the actual dimensions may be considered as a piece of baggage at 158 cm/62 in.
- Including one empty scuba tank, one scuba regulator, one tank harness, one tank pressure gauge, one mask, two fins, one snorkel and one safety vest.
- Ski &Water Ski
- Included in free allowance
- Pre-advise EVA Air the weight and dimension of baggage in order to check if cargo compartment space is available at the time of booking.
- Regardless of the actual dimensions may be considered as a piece of baggage at 158 cm/62 in.
- Including one pair of ski, one pair of ski poles, one pair of boots, or one snow board, one pair of boots, one pair of standard water skis or one slalom water ski.
- Equipment must be securely encased in a suitable container.
- Sporting Firearms & Ammunition
- Included in free allowance.
- Pre-advise EVA Air at the time of booking.
- Regardless of the actual dimensions may be considered as a piece of baggage at 158 cm/62 in.
- Must have the required documentation and licenses. This includes export/import licenses and authorization from local and national authorities (e.g. invitation letter)
- Person’s own use only.
- Consisting of no more than: (1)One rifle case containing no more than two rifles, 5 kg/11 lb of ammunition, one shooting mat, noise suppressers and small rifle tools, or (2)Two shotguns and two shotgun cases, 5 kg/11 lb of ammunition, or (3)One pistol case containing no more than 5(five) pistols, 5 kg/11 lb of ammunition, noise suppressers, one pistol telescope and small pistol tools (4)Ammunition is packed in either its original packaging or in a suitable container that prevents movement between shells or cartridges (i.e. loose ammunition is not permitted).
- Surfboard Equipment / Windsurfing Equipment
- Included in free allowance
- Pre-advise EVA Air at the time of booking.
- Windsurfing & Surfboard Equipment will be considered as normal checked baggage and shall be collected excess baggage charge by the length of each bag if it’s oversize under piece concept. If the oversize bag is also involved extra piece or/and overweight, each charge should be collected.
- Surfboards are allowed up to two (2) boards per bag.
- Windsurfing Equipment including one board and one mast, wooden boom and sail.
- Windsurfing equipment must be padded and enclosed in a suitable package sufficient to protect from scratches or dents or other damage during normal handling.
- Windsurfing & Surfboard Equipment will be considered as normal checked baggage and shall be collected excess baggage charge by the length of each bag if it’s oversize under piece concept. If the oversize bag is also involved extra piece or/and overweight, each charge should be collected. The excess baggage charge is followed as (e.g. travel on economy class)
